Edinburgh drivers facing delays after multi-vehicle smash on Queensferry Crossing

One lane of the Edinburgh Queensferry Crossing is currently restricted after a multi-vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon - with drivers being warned of potential delays.

Police are currently on the scene of the busy M90 crossing after a lorry and a car collided, with Traffic Scotland alerting Edinburgh road users to approach with care.

Delays of around 30 minutes are currently expected to be added onto travel times do to traffic being backed up as a result of the incident.

Traffic Scotland tweeted to notify motorists shortly after 3pm, saying: "NEW: 15:00 M90 Queensferry Crossing The Southbound carriageway lane 2 (of 2) is currently restricted due to a collision. Police and TRISS are en-route take care on approach."

Issuing another update at 3:30pm, they said the lane is still restricted and police are currently at the scene to divert traffic and assess the crash.

They added: "The Southbound carriageway lane 2 (of 2) is currently restricted due to a collision. Police and TRISS are in attendance. Traffic is really heavy on approach. Current delays approx. 30 minutes

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.55pm on Tuesday, 27 September, 2022, police were called to the Queensferry Crossing, following a report of a two-vehicle crash. Emergency services remain at the scene.”
