A brazen Edinburgh driver was heard yelling 'get out of the way' as he drove down a pedestrianised street in the city.
One local took a picture of a red car parked on Cockburn Street, which is only open to pedestrians under Spaces for People measures.
They claimed the motorists had shouted at them before making their way down the cobbled road.
Sharing the image with Edinburgh Live, and also on the social media site SOS Cockburn Street, the local said: “Please tell this driver, who told me in less polite terms to get out of his way, that Cockburn Street is pedestrianised, allegedly.
“With no enforcement, no one takes any notice. With #pavementparking, where are we to walk? @Edinburgh_CC."
Edinburgh City Council responded by asking the local to report the “illegally parked vehicle” via their website.
Last year Edinburgh City Council closed down a number of capital roads to vehicles as part of an emergency response to the Covid-19 pandemic, to allow Edinburgh residents to walk, wheel and cycle on the capital’s roads while maintaining social distancing.
Amid a city-wide consultation on the 'Spaces for People' measures, it was recommended that Cockburn Street remains pedestrianised as part of an ‘experimenting and learning’ exercise to see if it should become permanent.
The council has also retained pedestrianisation on Victoria Street, Cockburn Street, and Waverley Bridge.
