Edinburgh driver was weaving all over City Bypass while texting with both hands

A driver was caught "weaving all over" Edinburgh's City Bypass while texting with both hands.

Roads police from Dalkeith were carrying out patrols on the A720 when they caught the motorist using their phone at the wheel.

They say they had no hands on the steering wheel, and had no control over the car as a result.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon, with the driver reported to the Procurator Fiscal for dangerous driving.

Roads Policing Scotland shared news of the incident on their social media, adding: "Dalkeith RP were patrolling the A720 when they observed a driver texting on their mobile phone with both hands, not holding the steering wheel at all causing the car to weave all over the road.

"Driver reported to the PF for dangerous driving."

Police have been conducting patrols on a number of the city's busiest roads in recent weeks.

Edinburgh Live reported in January how six motorists were caught doing 20mph faster than the speed limit on the A90 during a huge crackdown.
