Edinburgh driver in hot water after being caught with no license, MOT or insurance and dodgy tyres

Edinburgh police are currently taking part in a festive crackdown on drink driving, which is leading to them pulling over drivers in the capital - but when they pulled over a driver in Craigmillar yesterday they probably weren't expecting to encounter quite so many broken laws.

The police shared a picture of the Honda, saying:

"#EdinburghRP stopped this Honda in Craigmillar for having no VEL or MOT. It went downhill for the driver from here! They were a provisional licence holder & unsupervised, they had no insurance as a result & had two tyres with cord/ply exposed. Vehicle seized and driver reported."

People responded saying that the driver had basically got a hat trick, others that it would only have taken one more broken law for a full house.

As well as the driver only having a provisional license, the vehicle itself didn't have a Vehicle Excise License (VEL) or MOT.

Several drivers as the Don't Risk It anti drink-driving campaign continues.

On that occasion none of the drivers were caught drink driving. However, two were caught breaking the 40mph speed limit.

The Roads Policing Unit tweeted:

"Carried out a road check as part of the festive #DriveSmart campaign this morning, this time on the A8. Pleased to say that all drivers stopped provided zero readings for alcohol, however two were given conditional offers for speeding in the 40mph limit. #DontRiskIt "
