Edinburgh DPD delivery van spotted perched on pavement blocking cycle lane

Photos shared with Edinburgh Live show a DPD van parked across a cycle lane.

A local resident had pictured the van at around 6pm on Tuesday Cambridge Avenue in Pilrig.

The van is seen to be parked at an angle as it perches on the corner of the pavement at a residential junction.

The cycle lane is understood to have been installed as a temporary diversion from Leith Walk during the ongoing tram works.

The local resident who took the photo said: "I understand delivery drivers are up against it in terms of making deliveries on time.

"But you'd hope they'd be a little more considerate. The van was not only blocking the cycle lane but also part of the pavement which I'm guessing isn't ideal for those with wheel chairs or buggies."

DPD thanked the public for notifying them of the encroachment and have said that they will speak with the driver concerned.

A spokesperson for DPD said: “We thank the public for bringing this to our attention. We always ask our drivers to be very mindful of other road users and residents while going about their work.

“The local depot is investigating and will speak to the driver concerned.”
