Edinburgh dog rescued by heroic passer-by after becoming stuck at Cramond

An Edinburgh dog was rescued by a heroic good samaritan after becoming stuck near Cramond Island.

Milo, a one-year-old black Labrador, had become distressed after his energetic personality saw him jump into the verge but quickly become unable to get out.

Taking a walk with Milo on Friday (October 15), owner Debbie Smith told Edinburgh Live that they had headed down to the beauty spot at around 1.30pm when he became stuck.

After realising the drop was too steep for Milo to get back up or for Debbie to get down, the pair were quickly saved by a gentleman who found them in the dilemma.

Assessing the situation, the man had headed to the nearby boat house to bring back a ladder, before climbing down and carrying Milo back up to the footpath.

Now hoping to find the man who rescued Milo to thank him, Debbie said: "He jumped into the tiber but it was too steep for him to get back out and he wasn’t sure bless him what was going on and I was worried he’d hurt himself, but the lovely guy went to the boat house and got a ladder and went down for him.

"He was so helpful and quick thinking and went off to get a ladder which was great as I couldn’t leave Milo, and I was worried he’d hurt himself when he jumped as was whimpering and lifting his front paw.

"If it was your son, brother, friend husband or partner that helped me by rescuing my dog at Cramond please give him a huge cuddle, I’m so grateful."
