Edinburgh dog rescue charity say they were conned out of £9,000 by an eBay fraudster

An Edinburgh dog rescue charity say they have been conned out of thousands of pounds by a ebay fraudster.

The Edinburgh Samoyed Rescue charity are famous for posting incredible pictures of their beautiful rescue dogs on their social media.

But last Thursday (July 9) they posted an update saying warning their followers to watch out for a scammer who had left them £9000 poorer.

The post read: “Scam warning! Please be aware of the person in the photo he has scammed our charity for £9000 for a van we never received on eBay.”

The post was accompanied by a picture of a passport belonging to a 68-year-old man (above).

Edinburgh Live has chosen not to publicise the man’s identity, as it possible the passport has been reported as lost or stolen by the owner.

You can find out more about the charity and the dogs they rescue on their website.

We approached Edinburgh Samoyed Rescue for a comment.
