A crowdfunder launched by Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home to help a "special" pooch in their care has raised over £4,000.
Jock, a three-year-old Jack Russell/collie cross, was handed into the home on Halloween with his owners no longer able to care for him.
Staff quickly discovered a large mass on his neck, which a vet established was a Sialocele; a mass caused by a damaged gland which would have come from a trauma or infection.
The complex surgery would cost around £4,500 but with no government or statutory funding Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home turned to the public for help to raise enough money for the operation.
The crowdfunder smashed the target and Jock is set to have the surgery he urgently needs today (26 November).
The animal charity described the public's support as "overwhelming".
A statement on Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home's Facebook page reads: "Wow, you've only gone and helped us reach our target.
"Thank you to everyone who donated and shared Jock's story. He is booked in for surgery on Tuesday and we're grateful to you all for making it possible."
