A diver from Edinburgh and his friend sparked a massive search on Saturday 26 April after firstly breaking the coronavirus lockdown by diving, and then one of them went missing leading to police and the coastguard turning out en masse to hunt for them.
The Edinburgh diver was with a friend from Cornwall, reports the BBC.
The pair went diving in Lyme Bay in Dorset, sparking a massive search on Saturday after one of them went missing.
One diver was reported missing by his friend, who was diving off the same boat, at about 3.30pm.
The Edinburgh diver had travelled 437 miles from his home address, while his companion from Wadebridge in Cornwall had travelled over 100 miles. Current coronavirus rules state that you can exercise, but only in walking distance from your home and non-essential travel is forbidden.
Two coastguard helicopters, RNLI lifeboats, fishing boats and a Royal Navy warship searched the area after the coastguard raised the alarm.
A Dorset Police spokesman said the two men, from Edinburgh and Wadebridge, were reported for "breaches of the regulations".
The force said: "We are unable to confirm the amount of the fine as this will be dealt with by a central administrative process."
The lone diver was spotted by a sailor after nearly two hours of searching for him.
He was three miles from where he had entered the water, having lost sight of the boat, and was recovered 'safe and well'.
