Edinburgh diner's massive Aussie burger helps brave crews tackling bushfires

An Edinburgh diner have served up a novel way of helping out the brave teams tackling the ongoing bushfire disaster in Australia.

Down the Hatch, who are based in South Queensferry and serve food from McSorley's in central Edinburgh, have a new titanic new burger.

All the proceeds from the sale of the diner's Aussie burger will go towards the New South Wales fire service and the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

Since January 1, more than 771 homes have been destroyed in New South Wales alone as the country deals with a massive conflagration. More than 20 people have died so far.

The Aussie burger meal, which was available on Tuesday, raised around £200 for charity.

Down the Hatch said: "We are doing something today to help out with the horrible bushfire situation in Australia. This is a traditional AussieBurger... Mayo, beetroot, beef, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, pineapple, fried egg on toasted brioche

"All proceeds from the sale of this badboy will be donated to @nswrfs and the Vic bushfire disaster appeal!

"Come show your support and eat a cracking burger while you're at it."
