Edinburgh designer's clutch bag sells out after Kate Middleton carries it on royal visit

An independent designer in Edinburgh got the royal seal of approval after the Duchess of Cambridge donned one of their designs during her visit to the capital.

Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived in Edinburgh today (7 December) to thank NHS workers for their efforts throughout the coronavirus crisis as part of a three-day royal tour.

As ever, fashion hunters were all over what the Duchess was wearing as she stepped off the train at Waverley Station, and many took a liking to the accessory she was carrying.

In a nod to the city she was visiting, Kate had opted for a embossed croc wallet made by local designer Strathberry, who say they were "incredibly thrilled" that she put their brand in the spotlight.

Kate carried the "Multrees Wallet", which is named after the brand's new store on the capital's Multrees Walk, and has now sold out completely online.

A spokesperson for the upmarket brand told Edinburgh Live that they had a surge of customers to the website, as bag-lovers scrambled to get their hands on Kate's stylish accessory.

Leeanne Hundleby, Strathberry owner and co-founder said: "It’s so thrilling to see Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge disembarking in our hometown with one of our brand new Strathberry designs.

"We’re completely overjoyed and honoured that she chose to support a small, independent Scottish brand during her visit to Scotland. Her endorsement means the world to us, and she looks incredibly beautiful and sophisticated, as always.”

Strathberry is an Edinburgh-based brand founded in 2013 by husband and wife team, Guy and Leeanne Hundleby.
