Edinburgh design agency awarded double deal to create Henry VIII and WWII exhibitions

Edinburgh design agency Studio MB has won the battle to work on two interactive exhibitions for the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.

The firm will provide 3D design and build for The Field of Cloth of Gold - about the gathering in 1520 when King Henry VIII with Francis I set out to establish a lasting peace between England and France. It will involve the crafting of combat armours, weapons, tools and historic documents to be displayed in the museum's Tournament Gallery.

MB will also develop a Second World War display exploring the technology of warfare, to become a permanent feature of the War Gallery. Work on both exhibitions is to be completed by May.

Studio MB previously worked with The Royal Armouries' White Tower in London on the Henry VIII: Dressed to Kill exhibition in 2009, the Fit for a King display in 2010 and Agincourt 600 exhibition in 2015.

Charlie Barr, founding director of Studio MB, said: “We’re delighted to announce our role in the creation of two new exhibitions for the Royal Armouries. Studio MB work with a number of military museums and have delivered innovative exhibitions for the Royal Armouries at some of its other sites. This project has the potential to transform audiences’ understanding two momentous events in history and we’re thrilled to have been chosen as the agency to design these experiences.”
