Edinburgh dad gutted as his stolen moped is used by balaclava-clad bike bandits

An Edinburgh dad has been left ‘gutted’ after his moped was ‘stolen' from his garden in the Mayfield area in the early hours of July 6.

Mr Klai told Edinburgh Live how his beloved moped was his lifeline as he used it to ‘feed his family and kids’ by working at his job as a food delivery driver.

He and his wife reported it to the police and put an appeal on social media to locate the silver moped.

The dad said he was ‘gutted’ when he was made aware of an image the next day of what he believes to be his ‘stolen’ motorcycle being used to grab onto other bicycles in the East Lothian area.

One man on social media claims that he is now missing bikes from his home in the Ormiston area, however, it is not clear if the two incidents are linked.

The dad told Edinburgh Live: “I feel gutted and drained.

"I worked so hard for my bike and did night shifts in Amazon, Bathgate for eight months travelling two hours to get there and two hours to get back.

“Then it just got stolen and not just that they are trying to steal from other people and hurt them the way they hurt me.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report that a motorbike was stolen from outside a property on Langlaw Road, Mayfield in Dalkeith, around 3.40pm on Tuesday, 6 July. Enquiries are ongoing."
