Edinburgh dad catches brazen thieves on CCTV stealing his moped he needs for work

An Edinburgh dad has been left without his transport for work after callous crooks were caught on CCTV stealing it in the early hours.

Kyle Butler, 24, has appealed for people's help in tracking down his stolen bike after it was wheeled away by two masked thieves on Monday (April 26) at around 1:30am in the morning.

The dad, who has a young daughter and another child on the way, says it's how he gets around and is desperate to get it back.

"It was my way to get to work and for getting to the shop as I have a young daughter and kid on the way so it helped for getting things quickly. I relied on it a lot and won't be able to afford another one any time soon, so I'm finding things hard.

"I'm desperate to get it back."

A 23-second clip captured outside his flat in Knight Crescent, in the capital's Niddrie area, shows two people turning the moped around and lifting the front wheel - which has a disk lock on it - before making off.

Asking anyone with information to come forward, Kyle described the moped as a WK Wasp 125 that is blue and white in colour.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and say enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ""Around 5.35 on Monday, 26 April, 2021, police were called regarding the theft of a motorcycle from a car park in Knight Crescent, Edinburgh. Enquiries are continuing."
