Edinburgh cyclist rushed to hospital after early morning collision with car

A cyclist has been rushed to hospital after a collision took place on Thursday morning (October 14).

Emergency services had rushed to the scene on Harrison Road, with the incident taking place just before the junction which connects to Angle Park Terrace and Ardmillan Terrace.

Police and medics were alerted to the crash shortly before 7.10am, with crews quickly rushing to the scene on the busy road.

The crash is confirmed to have involved a car and a cyclist, with the cyclist being rushed to hospital following the event.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told Edinburgh Live that a small red car had appeared to have swerved and collided with "what appeared to be a bollard or post", with the cyclist quickly being loaded into an ambulance.

Another eyewitness had stated on social media that passing drivers had been "out of their cars assisting", before the emergency services arrived.

Speaking about the incident, a Police Scotland spokesperson said : "Officers attended Harrison Road at 7.10am on Thursday, 14 October, 2021 following a crash involving a car and a cyclist.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing."
