Edinburgh cyclist knocked down in hit and run as police search for driver

An Edinburgh cyclist was knocked down in a hit and run near the city centre last week.

Police in the capital are now appealing for any information or witnesses after the collision took place on August 24 on a busy main road.

According to officers, the cyclist collided with a silver Toyota on Leopold Place at around 8.15pm and was knocked down in the crash.

However, the driver of the Toyota failed to stop at the scene of the collision, with police now seeking out the individual.

Speaking on Tuesday evening (September 7), a statement from Police Scotland said: "At about 8.15pm hours on Tuesday 24th of August 2021 a silver Toyota car was involved in a collision with a cyclist on Leopold Place, Edinburgh.

"The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene and is being sought by police.
