Edinburgh cruise liner to be used as hotel for tourists during Festival Fringe

Those flocking to Edinburgh for the Festival Fringe next summer could find themselves staying onboard a floating hotel.

A huge cruise liner will be docked in Leith from August 8-15 2024, carrying up to 1,300 guests in cabins and suites. The ship is set to be used as a hotel to accommodate tourists for the fringe.

Playbill recently announced a partnership with Ambassador Cruise Liner's Ambition, a sustainable and modern cruise ship. Onboard is a special Palladium Theatre for large-scale special events with exclusive performances for guests.

According to Playbill, the Fringeship will feature a line-up of speciality acts, concerts and more, making it the centre for theatre and fun throughout the festival.

As well as fringe-orientated activities, the ship also boats a swimming pool, three restaurants, two specialty restaurants, three main bars and two pool bars.

Cabins start at £179 per day, per person, and the cost of all suites and cabins include all meals, access to all the ship's amenities, all provided Playbill sponsored Fringe entertainment and access to luxury coaches daily taking guests into the heart of Edinburgh and back at night.

Buffet-style meals are included for breakfast and lunch, with a la carte dining for dinner. There is also the option to dine at Saffron or Lupinos, speciality restaurants at an additional charge. The Pizza Parlour will be open for late night bites, as well as room service available 24/7.

Booking for the festival are now live, as well as a range of different packages and benefits. For more information or to book your stay, you can visit the Fringeship site here.
