Edinburgh crowds spot Santa and live reindeer in huge festive parade

Edinburgh crowds have spotted Santa and live reindeer today in a huge festive parade.

Santa and his reindeer's were snapped by delighted locals today as the "Santa Parade" came to Stockbridge.

Father Christmas and his seven antlered companions took to the cobbled streets for the festive parade along with the Stockbridge Pipe Band.

Saint Nick has been pulled through the streets in his grand sleigh by all seven reindeer's as the pipe band played merry carols to accompany them.

Edinburgh Police took their duty of protecting Santa and his furry friends safe in the large crowds as they made their way through the parade.

Joyful images show Santa in his red velvet suit with his bob tailed friends in a large sleigh decorated with red ribbons and jingle bells.

Another picture shows the Christmas crew making their way down the middle of the road surrounded by gleeful crowds with a charming village backdrop.

Tomorrow, more than a 1000 Santa's from across the country are set to get their running shoes on for a Christmas park run.

On December 5, the annual Edinburgh Christmas 5k, 10k takes place, with a Santa Toddle for the wee ones.

The event starts in Inverleith park with the 5k starting at 9:30 and the 10k starting at 11am followed by the Santa Toddle for kids at 1:30pm.
