Edinburgh 'crowd of 50 people' gather outside Brewdog pub for pints despite level four lockdown

A crowd which is believed to be 'around 50 people' has been photographed queuing up for drinks and then socialising outside an Edinburgh pub.

Despite warnings from Nicola Sturgeon to "stay at home" as cases hit a record high, some locals headed out to grab a takeaway pint from Brewdog on Lothian Road.

Tonight a local taxi driver photographed crowds of people queuing up outside the pub and gathering in groups after to socialise with their drink.

Concerned local taxi driver Graham Ferguson said: "There’s a constant queue of people waiting to be served and once they do get served they don’t leave the area but sit on the benches and walls outside of the bar and have their drinks (there was at least 50 people scattered around drinking)and then return to the bar for more drinks, there is no way that the drinks are being sold as takeaway as they are sold in pint glasses and not takeaway containers."

The bar declined to comment but confirmed to Edinburgh Live that they are allowed to sell takeaway pints and that there had been 'crowd control' to stop people gathering outside the bar.

The news comes as Nicola Sturgeon pleaded with Scots to stay at home after 1,895 cases were reported today- the highest number ever on a single day in Scotland.
