Edinburgh crash sees van 'T-boned' by car on busy road as motorists swerve collision

A car has collided with a van on a busy Edinburgh Road, as motorists were met with a brief spell of 'chaos' in trying to navigate the incident.

The two-vehicle collision, on London Road, involved a white van and a black car just outside the McDonald's on Friday afternoon, with pictures from the scene showing traffic at a standstill as the black car had 'T-boned' the van in the middle of the road.

Motorists on the busy main road were forced to wait until the drivers had moved both cars out of the way, as police and ambulance crews both arrived at the scene a short while later.

One driver, who witnessed the incident, said: "It looked like the van was coming out of McDonald's or one of the streets on that side of the road and didn't see the black car.

"When I passed, the black car's bonnet had completely crashed into the van and both cars were fairly damaged. As there were no police on the scene yet as it just happened, the traffic was chaos as cars were just taking it upon themselves to try and navigate around the incident.

"It didn't look like anyone was seriously injured, there was just one ambulance and one police car present when I left the scene and they had managed to move both cars out of the way. It can be a fast road at times and with so many little streets and parked cars, it is prone to such accidents."

Various other pictures from the scene show the black car parked outside McDonald's and the van parked further along the street, with police speaking to the occupants of both vehicles.

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
