Edinburgh Covid-19 statistics shows there have been almost 1000 deaths In the city.
The latest information from the National Records of Scotland show that since the pandemic started there have now been 944 coronavirus related deaths recorded in Edinburgh.
This year up to December 15 there have been 387 deaths, despite the success of the vaccination programme.
The Public Health Scotland data shows that in recent weeks the death toll has been declining in Edinburgh.
After the initial vaccination programme earlier this year the number of deaths almost dropped to zero in the early Spring months.
However, that number began to rise again in the summer and from August to October Edinburgh was averaging between 20 and 30 Covid-19 deaths per month as the Delta variant spread across the UK.

But in recent weeks it has began to fall again and for the month of November there were 15 deaths recorded as of the latest PHS information.
So far for the month of December the PHS tables have recorded just two deaths, but they can sometimes take a while to update new fatalities.
Meanwhile, the First Minister last night made a special address to the nation on TV.
Ms Sturgeon said: “The last two years have been the toughest most of us can remember.
“I can never thank you enough for the sacrifices you have made.
“This winter, just as we thought we had turned a corner in the pandemic, the emergence of Omicron struck us a cruel blow.
“Omicron is much more transmissible than previous strains, and it is now spreading very quickly.
“We anticipate a steep and rapid rise in cases.”
She continued: “Omicron can do this through sheer weight of numbers. More people infected will lead to more people with serious illness and, tragically, more people will die.”
