Edinburgh couple who launched viral lockdown business to open 'pasta heaven' in Portobello

Good news for East Lothian and Edinburgh locals alike as viral pasta delivery service Æmilia has announced that they will be opening their first-ever shop and restaurant on Portobello High Street.

If you've followed any Edinburgh food-lovers Instagram account during lockdown you may have seen the new kid on the block Æmilia, a handmade pasta delivery service who have taken the Lothians by storm.

The food delivery business, which creates intricately handmade pasta and other Italian treats, held a sold-out pop-up in the capital last month, and has now shared the exciting news that they now have a permanent home for the public to visit.

Owners Kip and Giada, have both worked in hospitality for over ten years and described how lockdown caused them to "miss the joy of cooking and serving the simple pleasure of food" and inspired them to start Æmilia.

It's not just about the handmade pasta (although you do have four types to choose from) - you can also order sauces and ragu to go with it and focaccia is a must (how else are you going to mop up all that sugo?).

Revealing their new location on Instagram, the duo wrote: "PASTA point of no RETURN! We will soon be at 186 High Street, Portobello.

"We are so excited to finally be able to share this amazing news, we will be opening our little pasta heaven in the beloved first @bross_bagels ever shop!

"So many brilliant people have been involved in developing our dream and helping us with all sorts of things!

"We will keep you all posted, still lots of work to do but exciting times ahead."
