Edinburgh couple open 'nothing fancy' cafe which only serves pie and beans

A new neighbourhood coffee shop and cafe serving 'nothing fancy' has opened its doors in Leith.

Chums, headed up by Edinburgh couple Emery Boardman and Emily Clift, describes itself as an old school Scottish cafe where you can grab a coffee, a sweet or cake and a serving of their only hot dish - pie and beans.

Writing on Instagram, the pair said: "Chums is a local spot serving up pies, just like gran used to make, beans and coffee.

"No fuss. Nothing fancy. Just pies and beans."

The interior is full of retro touches and neon signs (Emery is also the owner of Solas Neon) and gives off serious 1970s greasy spoon vibes.

Alongside a classic hard-cased pie (which comes in veggie and vegan options) topped with baked beans, punters visiting the new Henderson Street caff can also grab a Williams and Johnson coffee.

For those with a sweet tooth there'll be a selection of sweets (think coconut snowballs and Tunnocks teacakes), empire biscuits and cakes from 101 Bakery.

Chums is open 9am-3pm every Wednesday to Friday and from 10am to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday at 18 Henderson Street.
