We're now in that limbo between Christmas and New Year and many people will be looking to take down the tree.
If you bought a real tree and are looking to get rid of it responsibly, Edinburgh Council will recycle it completely free of charge.
The council's waste team will collect the tree from outside your home and recycle it into compost - but you have to take these steps first.

The first step is to check when you should put your Christmas tree out for recycling.
Each street has been assigned a first and second collection date.

Prepare your tree for collection
The council ask that you take these steps before putting your tree out for collection:
- Remove any stand or base
- Remove all decorations from the Christmas tree
- Cut it in half if it's 6ft tall or higher

Place your tree on the kerbside by 6am on your designated collection day, or by a communal bin, if you use this service.
However, residents are urged not to block access to the bin or pavement when doing so.
