Edinburgh could get new drive-thru Costa at Meadowbank shopping centre in new proposal

Property giant Savills have submitted plans to Edinburgh City Council to build a new Costa drive-thru service.

According to the plans, half of the parking space at Meadowbank shopping centre outside the Sainsbury’s store would be used for the new coffee shop.

If approved by council chiefs, the 1,800 sq ft cafe would have a one-way drive-thru system, 16 parking spaces and an outdoor seating area.

Costa Coffee currently has a number of drive-thru services including at the Range and Cameron Toll.

The proposed plans would see room for 59 tables inside the building and a further 24 in the outside area.

Before being approved by the council, the plans are to go to a public consultation in which locals are able to submit their comments until Monday, September 28.
