Edinburgh coronavirus figures latest: One new case in Lothians as Scottish total rises to 195

There has been another confirmed case of coronavirus in the Lothians, with the Scottish total now at 195.

The latest Scottish Government figures that there are now 30 Covid-19 cases in Lothian, up from 29 yesterday.

The figures across Scotland have increased by 24, from 171 to 195.

There are two new cases in Forth Valley (now 12) and no new cases in Fife.

The latest numbers of coronavirus cases in Scotland are published by the Scottish  Government  daily at 2pm.

Yesterday (Monday) we reported how there had been a sharp rise in the number of cases across the country.

The first death from COVID-19 in Scotland confirmed on Friday. It is understood that the patient was an older person in the Lothians who had underlying health conditions.

People are now being urged to avoid any form of social gathering, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson urging people to work from home where possible and avoid pubs, bars and theatres.

This morning we reported how the Edinburgh Playhouse had closed with immediate effect, while jury trials in Scotland had been suspended for the time being.
