Edinburgh cooking guru opens new café boasting food talks and tastings

An acknowledged food writer and cooking guru with a takeaway cafe and shop in Edinburgh has announced an opening of her new event space.

Jess Elliott Dennison, the founder of Elliott's at 27 Sciennes Road, is ready to welcome guests at her new event venue, where she will host seasonal cooking demonstrations, food talks and workshops, and of course, tasting events.

Breaking the news on Instagram, Jess said: "Gathering you all at long tables for seasonal cooking and delicious drinks is my absolute favourite thing to do.

"So I'm delighted to welcome you into our beautiful new space, just a few doors down from the Cafe & Shop, for a calendar of cookery demonstrations, food talks and workshops with guest authors, artists and makers."

This month, the new event space will see its first guests with a Summer Series of Cookery Demonstration Tasting Lunches. Priced at £85 per person, the event includes three hours of cooking demonstrations, an illustrated recipe booklet and a tote bag to take home each seasonal series.

Visitors would enjoy food and drinks while taking in all the tips and tricks of summer cooking - and styling. During the informal sessions, questions are highly encouraged, and the host promises "a real celebration of all things Summer".

Announcing the great series of events, Elliott's team said: "Jess takes you step by step through her seasonal menu. Tasting each course as you go, you will learn the skills required to recreate each dish in your own kitchen.

"You'll gain knowledge on how to choose and use seasonal produce in your home cooking and notes on how to serve and style food to impress your guests. Sessions have an informal atmosphere, so there's plenty of time to chat to Jess and ask questions throughout.

"We recommend you arrive hungry!"

You can buy tickets for one of the summer events on the venue's website here.
