Edinburgh commuters facing delays after car overturns on busy Scottish bypass

Edinburgh commuters face huge delays today, April 13. due to an overturned car on a busy Scottish bypass.

The A92 is currently closed eastbound and westbound between Cowdenbeath - Crossgates after a car and trailer were pictured overturned on the busy bypass this afternoon.

Traffic Scotland alerted motorists to the collision at 2:40pm, saying: "A92 collision, Westbound Cowdenbeath - Crossgates now closed.

Approach with care, traffic is building in the area."

The team issued an update at 3pn this afternoon, noting that the road is now also closed to eastbound traffic.

They added: "A92 collision, Eastbound and Westbound Cowdenbeath - Crossgates now closed. Approach with care, traffic is heavy in the area."

An image posted by Fife Jammers on Facebook shows traffic grinding to a halt and the car, which appears to be towing some sort of caravan, both overturned on the bypass, with no traffic getting through.

As rush hour approaches Edinburgh commuters who use this busy Scottish bypass will no doubt be affected by the tailbacks which are expected to extend into the evening.

Motorists travelling from Edinburgh over the Queensferry crossing and towards the east of Scotland are expected to get caught up in the incident this afternoon.

The bypass, which circles Cowdenbeath, also joins onto the M90, as updates from Traffic Scotland throughout the afternoon are expected.
