Edinburgh community gym launches pay-what-you-can counselling service for lockdown locals

An Edinburgh community gym is focusing on more than just physical fitness this year after launching free, and pay-what-you-can, mental health services for locked down locals.

Projekt 42 were previously operating out of a huge Leith Walk warehouse until the end of 2020, but had to close their premises due to coronavirus restrictions and 'recurring issues' with the building and have now shifted all of their services online.

As Scotland enters another national lockdown, the gym - which is also a registered charity - is now urging Edinburgh locals to come to them for help with any mental health issues thanks to their 'pay what you can' counselling and therapy services.

Prices for 50 minute sessions with one of Projekt 42's 30 counsellors are based upon an individual's income and every week the gym has a whopping 50 hours of free and part-funded counselling available for those who may be out of work.

Projekt 42 is also launching an SMS text counselling and psychotherapy which involves you being able to write and send an in-depth text message to a counsellor detailing the problems, issues and concerns that you are facing who will then reply with a detailed and specific response to help address your needs.
