Edinburgh Civerinos offering free pizza and tshirts to 'little litter-picking heroes'

A well-known Edinburgh pizza shop is hoping to spread some positivity in Portobello by offering children free pizza and t-shirts in exchange for buckets of beach litter.

Writing on Instagram that there's been 'a lot of negative actions focused on behaviour on Porty beach lately', Civerinos Slice on the promenade shared details of their new Kids Beach Clean Up initiative.

Since its launch last week, they've given out over 40 free t-shirts and pizza slices to 'little heroes' who have travelled from all over Edinburgh and the Lothians to pick up beach litter and exchange it for treats from the restaurant.

Civerinos wrote on Instagram: "Keeping our environment and beach clean is important but teaching the young team that it’s all our responsibility and rewarding them for taking part is the point here."

The initiative runs from 9am until noon every day, 7 days a week - bags for collecting beach litter can be picked up at Civerinos and then swapped for pizza or a snazzy psychedelic t-shirt.

You can find out more and follow Civerinos on Instagram here.

The news comes after six youths were arrested over the weekend after serious bouts of anti-social behaviour struck the promenade.
