Down The Hatch gave their Edinburgh customers a welcomed surprise on the weekend, chalking off every bill on Saturday and instead issuing a card that simply read: 'surprise'.
Hundreds of food lovers will have fallen deeper for the popular Canadian eatery as their Antigua Street branch put a smile on everyone's faces on Saturday with the generous giveaway.
Customers, instead of receiving their bill, were given a little card that started with: "this one's on us!" as a gesture by both OpenTable and Mastercard who handpicked 30 UK restaurants to share this prize with.

The gesture was a thank you for supporting local restaurants and covered all food and non-alcoholic drinks.
The restaurant added: "We had an awesome day surprising diners... what an amazing thing to be able to do!
"Bills were taken care off by OpenTableUK and MastercardUK and we did this as part of our partnership with both companies and FareShare to tackle food poverty."
They also added that Mastercard are adding to their generosity by donating a further £5 per diner until the 31st December so FareShare can provide meals to people in need.
Down the Hatch added the Antigua Street branch to their existing South Queensferry location last year and have become one of the most popular destinations for lover of juicy and messy burgers, wings and fries.
Taking to social media to list each day's specials, it's no wonder that diners have made a B-line for the restaurant, and will have been shocked even further upon finding out that they had received the whole meal for free!
