A man has been arrested after a car chase broke out between him and Edinburgh police.
Police officers attempted a routine stop of a vehicle, but when the driver refused to stop, officers stung and safely stopped the vehicle on Wednesday, December 21 at around 8.40am. The chase went from Colinton Mains Drive and concluded on Wheatfield Road area.
After allegedly failing the roadside drug wipe test, the driver was arrested. Drug wipe tests can test surfaces or saliva, or sweat.

Edinburgh Road Police commented on social while sharing a photo of a car: "This vehicle didn’t want to stop earlier and have a Christmas chat with #EdinburghRP. After a pursuit, plus help from @PolScotArmed, the vehicle was stung and safely stopped. Driver failed the roadside @DrugWipeUK and was arrested. Bloods taken for analysis."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40am on Wednesday, 21 December, 2022, police attempted the routine stop of a vehicle on Colinton Mains Drive, Edinburgh. A pursuit then followed, which concluded in the Wheatfield Road area. One man has been arrested and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."
