An Edinburgh city centre electrical goods repair store could be turned into a hot food takeaway if permission is granted from the council.
The building, at 55 Nicolson Street, could be changed from a repair centre specialising in electrical equipment to a fast food takeaway business, although the exact type or name has not been expressed within the planning application.
Interestingly, the application cites a previous proposal made in 1997, for the exact same change of use purpose. The application was granted by the City of Edinburgh Council, although the change never happened.

24 years later, the applicant has returned with a revised vision for the premises, which is sandwiched between a Halal butcher shop and a baguette/panini store.
Nicolson Street itself is a busy spot, with brands such as Lidl and KFC all in the surrounding area, as well as it being just a ten minute walk to Princes Street.
The proposed hot food takeaway business would be in for some tough competition, however. One thing the area is not short of is quick and easy snack options.
The building is also the site of a row of tenements above the businesses below, with the area being popular among student renters during the winter.
