One of Scotland's most famous castles is set to be transformed into an immersive light experience this festive period. Early Bird tickets have been released for Edinburgh Castle's ‘Castle of Light’ event.
The iconic landmark in the capital is set to become a ‘Kingdom of Colours’ that will tell a story of Scotland’s past that the whole family will be able to enjoy. State-of-the-art light projections will transform the historic structure and tell the story of the nation’s history with never before seen light displays and spectacular sounds.
The event will also see the return of mascot Rex, the lion rampant, who will act as a guide taking guests around on the 60-minute walking tour that is sure to brighten up the darker winter months.
Early bird tickets have gone on sale and will be available until midnight on Friday, October 7. The event will run for six weeks over the festive period from Friday, November 18 until Friday, December 30. A selection of food and drink will also be on sale for visitors as they enjoy the castle grounds.
Double Take Projections, NL Productions, Andy McGregor and War Productions Ltd have worked in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland to create the show that will be in its third year.
Ticketed entry slots will run every 15 minutes between 4:30pm and 7:30pm each evening, with last entry between 7:30pm and 7:45pm. The event closes at 9:00pm.
Adult early bird tickets cost £18 (using the promo code: COLSM22 ), with concession rates, family tickets and discounts for Historic Scotland members also available.
