Edinburgh Castle is the most Instagrammable location in Scotland according to new research by Heriot Watt University.
Whilst our homeland might be full of stunning scenery and landscapes, from the mighty Munros that litter the skyline to the multitude of lochs that cover the ground - it's one of our architectural beauties that has been crowned most Instagrammable spot.
The students at Heriot Watt decided to analyse Instagram hashtags to detail the most instagrammable places in Scotland.
The destinations were taken from the most popular list on Trip Advisor and calculated based on total number of hashtags as of 17th October.
And the key findings showed that
- Edinburgh Castle is the Most Instagrammable Location In Scotland with 602,806 hashtags
- Loch Lomond is the second most Instagrammable Location with 501,498 hashtags
- Loch Ness is very popular amongst the Scottish population as it is 3rd with 439,736 hashtags
The top 5 locations are on this table and as you can see Edinburgh Castle is clear by almost 100,000 hashtags and the most popular Insta spot in Scotland.
