Thousands of tourists flock to see it every year, and now Edinburgh Castle has won a new award as it was crowned the world's most "instagrammable" castle.
In a survey by onbuy.com, a consumer website, Edinburgh Castle outpolled fortresses in Prague, Germany, Romania and England based on the number of hashtags.
It received over half a million hashtags, more than 10,000 more than its closest rival in Prague.
Windsor Castle received 353,799 hashtags on the social media platform, whilst other popular photo hot spots included castles in Spain, Portugal and Romania.
A Historic Environment Scotland spokesperson told the National newspaper: “As Scotland’s number one visitor attraction and an iconic structure globally, it’s great – and not surprising to see – that Edinburgh Castle is one of the most popular locations in this survey.
“It’s an honour to be at the top of this list of such impressive, memorable and prestigious castles.”
The castle is adored by tourists, with many taking the opportunity to take a snap when the visit the city.
One recent visitor described the castle as "magical" in a review on Tripadvisor.
The castle enjoys a 4.5 star rating on the website, with thousands of glowing reviews recommending a visit.
