Edinburgh Castle Coffee opens up in converted Princes Street police box

Forget the Festival, the castle, the bagpipers. Nothing says 'Edinburgh' like a coffee shop crammed into a former police box.

And wouldn't you know, Princes Street has a new one in the shape of Castle Coffee, taking the place of an old tour kiosk in the West End and serving coffee from cult Edinburgh roasters, Machina.

An early review says "Great quality coffee - smooth and flavoursome without being sharp or bitter - and exceptionally friendly service, plus incredibly well priced. What's not to love?!"

Claiming to be "the best and cheapest coffee in Edinburgh", they kicked off their new reign as (possibly) Princes Street's new favourite by giving away free drinks all day on their opening day at the end of May, but now they're up and running you will have to pay.

The witty barista banter though? Absolutely free.
