Edinburgh car owners wake up to their tyres deflated by environmental activists

Dozens of Edinburgh SUV owners woke up on Monday to find their tyres had been deflated overnight by environmental activists.

The group known as The Tyre Extinguishers targeted over 30 SUV's in the Portobello area of the city on Sunday night.

The brazen eco warriors bragged about the action on social media site Twitter.

They claimed to have hit 30 SUV vehicles overnight, in the Portobello area "just metres from the local police station."

This is not the first time the group have taken out environmental action in this manner but this "attack" was a message to local councillors who have just been elected.

An Edinburgh Tyre Extinguishers spokesperson said: "Edinburgh's politicians have been elected with promises to take action on climate, air pollution and road safety.

"But their plans go nowhere near far enough. Our message to them is: Take real action, or we'll take it for you."
