Edinburgh cafe gets stunning makeover and is now selling Instagram-worthy unicorn lattes

A pretty in pink Edinburgh cafe is turning heads after reopening this week - and it's no wonder.

Laila's Mediterranean Bistro in the heart of the city's Old Town, on Cockburn Street, has undergone a makeover and reopened simply as Laila's.

However, that's where the simplicity stops, with incredible takeaway food that promises to brighten your days in lockdown no matter the weather.

We're talking Instagram-worthy unicorn lattes, a nod to Scotland's national animal, as well as a mouth-watering selection of Middle Eastern brunch options. How do pitas filled with buttermilk chicken, Aleppo aioli and crumbled feta sound?

Open from 10am-6pm from Monday through to Sunday, this is sure to become a popular spot for happy snapping locals who want their scran to look as good as it tastes.

Hospitality marketer and social media manager Sabrina Gali was employed by Laila’s owner, Jamal Ahmed, to take charge of the revamp.

She said: "The idea around the rebrand was to bring something you would normally have to venture outside of Scotland for.

"I wanted to mix my passion for food and photography, so I carefully curated each dish with the idea of looking great photographed, whether you have a DSLR or an iPhone."

The cafe was previously famed for featuring in Avengers, when Wanda and Vision are attacked by Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight as they race to get possession of the Mind Stone.

The brutal fight sees Wanda thrown through the window of the Cockburn Street cafe - which shows off its film star status with a faux-smashed window pane.

While the cafe has been given a popping pink new exterior, they have retained their "smashed" window - and we love it.

While the cafe is currently only opening for takeaways, due to Covid restrictions, its indoors has also had a major face lift, with new deep green booths and stunning flower installations.
