As Edinburgh's hospitality industry remains closed for the foreseeable future, the few venues that are open are the capital's cafes.
Salt Café in Morningside opened its doors in what is possibly the most difficult time for the industry and owners Steve and Liv Connolly-Bastock have successfully created an instant must-visit foodie destination with their locally-sourced fare.
Liv took to Instagram yesterday to remind Edinburgh local's to 'be kind' in the face of the crisis facing restaurants, bars and pubs in the capital, following an 'unjust' review of the venue.
She wrote: 'Lovely people of Edinburgh, if you're unhappy about something, give us a chance to fix it before pretending it's fine and then later taking to review platforms to complain.
"We've received an entirely unjust review which just isn't kind during such a difficult time for the hospitality industry. We can only work with two chefs in the kitchen due to coronavirus.
"All our food is cooked fresh to order and trust me when I say we are working every hour possible to make your experience a positive one.
"To the ladies I couldn't manage to accommodate for lunch today - accept my apology and come in for brunch on me if you would like to give me an opportunity to fix things."
The cafe's brunches have become near-Instagram viral since the venue's opening earlier this month, with every Edinburgh foodie worth their salt (get it?) having made a visit.
