Edinburgh bypass crash leaves traffic at standstill as collision shuts down lane

Traffic on one of Capital’s busiest access routes has been brought to an afternoon standstill after a lane was blocked off after a collision.

Vehicles are moving slowly around an RTC on the Edinburgh bypass just after the bustling Sheriffhall roundabout following the incident shortly after 1:30pm.

Images from traffic cameras show long tailbacks along the eastbound route of the A720, with recovery vehicles surrounding the scene of the collision.

The nature of the incident is currently unclear but Traffic Scotland has warned oncoming motorists to be careful on their approach to the Millerhill junction while the damage is assessed.
