Edinburgh bypass crash: Collision on Sheriffhall roundabout causes chaos

Drivers face chaos on the Edinburgh City Bypass after a crash on one of the busiest roundabouts.

Those heading eastbound on the A720 have been advised to expect delays after an RTC was reported at Sheriffhall around 4pm this afternoon.

Live traffic cameras show police present at the scene, with a goods van appeared to be pulled in out of the way of traffic just in front of the police vehicle.

Currently it is unclear what has caused the crash, however one lane has been restricted at the junction that connects to the A68, which is known to be very congested at peak times.

As the emergency services work to clear the scene, motorists have already been seen facing long wait times along the A720 as they approach Sheriffhall.

Images of the lanes heading east bound past Gilmerton have been shown to now be heavily congested, with traffic moving at a slow pace.

Drivers heading in the direction of the delays have been asked to be cautious on approach.

Edinburgh Live will update this story with any further information as it happens.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
