Drivers in Edinburgh have experienced some delays on Sunday afternoon after a road traffic collision occurred on the city bypass.

Police are currently present at the scene on the A720, with the crash reported to have taken place close to the Calder junction in the west of the city.

Taking place shortly before 11.30am on August 22, lane one of the dual carriageway heading westbound has been restricted surrounding the vehicles, with motorists urged to take caution on approach.

Live traffic images of the scene have shown a number of police officers present at the crash site, with three vehicles appearing to be stationary in the lane.

A small red sports car and larger black people carrier have been pictured in the centre of the collision, with a long queue of traffic being slowly directed around the closed lane.

It is yet to be confirmed if there have been any injuries or casualties from the crash.

Those using the Calder section of the bypass have been told to expect delays while the scene is cleared.

Edinburgh Live will update this story with any further information as it happens.
