Edinburgh Busy Bee's nursery temporarily shuts down after coronavirus outbreak

An Edinburgh nursery has closed its doors after six staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

A number of children who were in contact with the workers who tested positive at the Busy Bee's Edinburgh nursery have also been asked to stay at home and self-isolate.

Busy Bees operate out of three buildings - one in Broughton Road and two in the neighbouring Beaverhall Road - and as the affected staff work across them all, they have all been temporarily shut down.

Parents have been informed that the nursery has been closed and the childcare facility plans to welcome back any children who are not self-isolating from Monday 31 May.

Yvonne Smillie, managing director for Busy Bees Scotland, told Edinburgh Evening News: “As a result of the positive test results we made the decision to temporarily close the nursery as we did not have enough staff available in the short-term and also to prevent spread of the virus.

"We have written individually to every parent explaining the situation and how they are affected.

“We know this temporary closure will be frustrating for families and we apologise for the inconvenience caused however we will reopen on Monday 31st May and look forward to welcoming back those children who are not self-isolating.”
