Edinburgh Bus Station closed due to falling masonry as strong winds hit city

Edinburgh Bus Station has been closed due to falling masonry.

Strong winds are currently hitting parts of the city ahead of another weekend of miserable weather in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Bus companies took to social media shortly after 7am this morning to warn passengers that journeys have been affected by the closure to the station.

Stagecoach East Scotland said that "all Edinburgh services will drop off and pick up at St Andrew Square until further notice".

Scottish Citylink also took to social media, tweeting: "Please be advised that Edinburgh Bus Station is currently closed due to falling masonry. Northbound services will now pick up from South Queen Street Gardens and 900s will pick up from North St David's Street."

We'll bring you more on this story as we get it.

Edinburgh Live reported this morning how the Met Office were warning of potential "loss of power" and travel chaos due to high winds in the capital this weekend.
