Edinburgh Bus Station closed due to falling masonry amid high winds

Edinburgh's main bus station has been closed due to masonry falling from the side of a building, as high winds batter the city.

Gusts of up to 60mph are forecast for Saturday and travel disruption is expected throughout the day.

Edinburgh Bus Station in the city centre was closed on Saturday morning as safety checks were carried out.

Several bus operators have had to change their services, with some using stops around St Andrews Square instead.

Stagecoach tweeted: "Edinburgh bus station has been closed due to fallen masonry. All X58 and X60 services will use St Andrews Square until further notice."

Scottish Citylink told a customer: "We have received information that Edinburgh Bus Station has been closed by the council because of falling masonry from the side of the building."
