1. OAP rushed to hospital after flat fire

An Edinburgh OAP has been left in hospital after a fire ripped through a Leith property.

The 84-year-old was rushed to hospital after being rescued from a fire in a property on Broughton Road.

Emergency services attended the scene on Tuesday October 26, shortly after 8:00pm.

2. Four NHS Lothian hospitals close to capacity

NHS Lothian has warned the public not to visit A&E unless their condition is life-threatening as the health board is under 'extreme pressure'.

Chief Executive Calum Campbell, said NHS Lothian has submitted a request for extra help from the other health boards in Scotland, after services were caught in a "perfect storm" of understaffing and lack of beds.

This combined with the high volumes of patients presenting with serious issues has meant the health board is struggling to handle the influx.

3. Man seriously injured after Glasgow Road crash

Edinburgh police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left seriously injured following a horror smash between a bus and a car on Glasgow Road.

The collision involved a blue BMW 3 Series and a double decker bus, and occurred at approximately 6.50pm on Tuesday, October 26, on the A8 Glasgow Road at the Maybury Junction..

The BMW, driving east, was involved in a collision with a double decker bus on the opposite side of the road just before the Maybury junction, near the Marriott Hotel.

4. Nightclub introduces new safety measure to protect clubbers from spiking

An Edinburgh nightclub has introduced new safety measures to help protect drinkers from being spiked.

Why Not's new service ensures revellers can report any suspicious activity - a move which they hope will play a pivotal role in addressing growing concerns about ‘spiking’ incidents.

The club anticipate that the ‘Night Watch’ concept will be on top of a new policy to search all club-goers on entry.

5. Jason Leitch speaks on Christmas being cancelled

Scotland's national clinical director says he is "hopeful" that Christmas 2021 will not be cancelled.

Speaking on Radio Scotland's Good Morning Scotland, Professor Jason Leitch, admitted he does not expect the festive season to be similar to last year, when the whole country moved into another lockdown on Boxing Day.

But has did warn that we all have a big part to play this year.
