Edinburgh braced for possible flooding as Met Office issue yellow weather warning

A yellow weather warning has been put in place for the end of the week as Edinburgh and the Lothians is braced for heavy rain and potential flooding.

The Met Office have put the warning in place from 3pm on Thursday, November 17, until 6pm on Friday night, November 18. During which, they have warned locals of potential flooding and delays to public transport.

Parts of East, West and Midlothian are also covered by the warning that is set to batter the east of Scotland. The Met Office say: "A spell of persistent, and at times heavy rainfall will develop during Thursday, continuing on Friday, leading to a risk of flooding."

They warn locals to expect a chance of homes and businesses to be flooded, spray and flooding that could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, cancellations to train and bus services and there is a small chance that some communities may be temporarily cut off by flooded roads.

The forecast for Edinburgh and the Lothians predicts a: "Showery day. Outbreaks heavier, more frequent in east where they merge to longer periods of rain during the afternoon, heaviest across eastern hills. Best of shelter in far western districts. Maximum temperature 11 °C."

"Unsettled Friday with frequent showers or longer periods of rain" is the outlook for the rest of the week with a dry and sunny Saturday but occasional rain crossing from west on Sunday.
