Emergency services raced to the scene outside of Warrender Swim Centre at around 10.30am after the collision took place.

The child was then quickly taken to the Sick Kids at Little France, where he is being treated for "serious leg injuries".

Both police and ambulance services were present at the scene to help the boy, whose injuries are thought to not be life threatening, reports the Sun.

On Saturday afternoon, police in Edinburgh confirmed that they are now carrying out enquiries regarding the incident on Thirlestane Road.
