Edinburgh bottle shop opens in Leith, offering craft beers and specialty wines

A new speciality booze shop opened in Leith on Wednesday, offering craft beers, wines and speciality spirits to people in the city.

The Leith Bottle Shop opened on Wednesday (May 25) and can be found in Leith on 30 Great Junction Street.

The shop will specialise in craft alcohols. Selling craft beers, wine as well as specialty spirits that may be difficult for people to get their hands on in larger supermarkets.

The shop was opened by Alex Harris and his partner Aoife.

Alex, who used to work in the tech industry, is a huge fan of craft beers but noticed that Edinburgh is somewhat lacking in local brew shops, especially in Leith.

After leaving his work during the pandemic, he decided to remedy that and apparently the reception to the new business has been fantastic.

The owner of the new shop, Alex , said:

“I had a career in Internet Security for five years before leaving the tech industry during the pandemic.

“I’m a big craft beer enthusiast, and despite the huge range of independent craft breweries in Leith, I noticed a gap to fill for showcasing all the excellent local breweries with a bottle shop in Leith.

“I set up the shop with the constant help and support of my partner, Aoife, who is also a big craft beer fan.

“We opened on Wednesday and are selling a wide range of craft beers from our neighbouring Leith breweries (Campervan, Newbarns, Pilot, Moonwake and more), as well as breweries further afield in Scotland, the UK and the world.

“We are also showcasing a selection of spirits with a focus on Scottish gins and whiskey, and a selection of natural and vegan wines.

“So far going down really well with the locals – folks have been telling us they’ve been waiting for a good bottle shop in the area! We hope to expand our range of local craft over the next few weeks (we’re one fridge down as it arrived faulty!).”
